Driver Pulls Gun On Pedestrian In Stamford, Police Say

A road-rage incident led to the arrest of a Stamford man after he allegedly threatened a pedestrian with a gun.

Clinton Baxter, 57, was charged with threatening after getting into the argument around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, after allegedly almost hitting the pedestrian, said Stamford Police Sgt. Kenneth Jarrett.

According to police, a man was crossing Summer Street near Main Street when Baxter allegedly almost struck him with his black Mercedes-Benz. The man yelled out to slow down and the two had words, said Jarrett.

At some point in the confrontation, Baxter allegedly pulled out a small black handgun and pointed it at the man before driving off, police said.

As Baxter drove away the pedestrian was able to snap a photo of his license plate.

Officers went to Baxter’s residence and arrested him. A gun was not found in the vehicle, Jarrett said.
